Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third horror film of the Hatchet Series. It follows the continuing adventures of Victor Crowley and his murderous rampage through Honey Island Swamp in Louisiana. Kane Hodder portrays Victor Crowley while Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanbilt plays Misty.



The strength of the movie lies in its practical special effects. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of practical makeup effects and sets. This is a departure from many horror movies nowadays that heavily rely on CG effects. The film also has several truly terrifying moments.

The cast gives a strong performance and Kane Hodder standing out as the most terrifying villain. It feels like a slasher film from the 1980s, with the dialogue being somewhat tongue-in-cheek and campy. There are also instances of humor in the movie which add humour to the bloody action.

Because the budget was $1 million, most locations were reused from previous films. The boat house that was used twice in the film was one example. Much of this appears to (blog) be a re-use from other movies in the franchise. If you've watched Hatchet or Hatchet 2, this can sometimes make the film feel familiar.
